Summary
007 First Light is first and foremost a stealth game, meaning avoiding combat is essential in progressing. Utilize covers, disguises, gadgets, the environment, and the unique Bluffing mechanic to sneak your past enemies.
Stealth
Stealth in 007: First Light works the same as any other stealth game. Avoid the bad guys' detection, hide from sight, and take them down undetected. However, the game offers smarter enemies and no nonsense attitude towards poor sneaking. That said, there are mechanics in the game that help with stealth, to turn Bond from Eggsy into the legendary 007.
Q-Lens
Quite possibly Bond's most important tool, the Q-Lens gives him a visual of his surroundings. By pressing the assigned button, Bond will get a digital wireframe of enemies, interactible objects, cameras, and more.
Cover
First Light offers covers that James Bond can hide in, either from enemy fire or sight. Switching between covers can offer a quick and safe way to get from place to place.
Environment
The maps in First Light is not just a simple get from Point A to Point B. Each map has many objects that can be interacted with: falling chandeliers, throwable cans, and even shortcuts. These can either take out enemies or distract them.
Disguises
Disguises are found in certain areas. Wearing them lets Bond go in guarded places without trouble. There are limits, however, if other enemies are wearing the same hat as Bond, this will alert their suspicions.
Resources
Bond has three main resources that can help him with traversing enemy territory. Battery, Chemical and Instinct. Battery and Chemical are used up when using gadgets and can be restored by finding the resources in the environment. Instinct, meanwhile, is used for actions like Focus, which slows down time, Lure which can direct attention, or Bluff which will be discussed later. Instinct can be recovered by completing objectives, stealthily taking out enemies, eavesdropping, or doing other spy actions.
Gadgets
Bond has a variety of gadgets that not only help him in combat, but also in stealth. The Dart Phone can make guards sick, the Laser Strap can destroy objects for stealthy environment takedowns, and the *Hacking Watch can, well, hack objects to create distractions. Gadgets have more than one use and the Q-Lens shows which can interact with the environment.

Bluff
Bluffing is a new and unique mechanic from 007: First Light. If Bond enters an area suspiciously, like climbing from a window or casually entering a staff-only area, he can use Bluff to make an excuse about why he is there. Bluffing costs Instinct, however, and it cannot be used against smarter enemies in higher-up positions.
Tips and Tricks
- Make Use of the Q-Lens
The Q-Lens highlights everything in the vicinity, even anything not seen. From enemies, to where a camera is looking at, and even how a gadget can interact with an object. Use that to decide how to proceed. - Tactfully Decide on How to Disable Cameras
Cameras can be disabled either by hacking or by destroying them. Both have their pros and cons. Hacking will only temporarily disable them while destroying them may alert nearby enemies. - Guns Do Not Work in Stealth
There is a License To Kill mechanic in First Light. Bond is not allowed to kill an enemy unless they are actively trying to kill him. So do not bother with sniping enemies in stealth, take out enemies the old-fashioned way. - Use the Environment
The environment offers many interactables that can be utilized for stealth. Throw cans to create distractions or drop objects onto enemies to take them down. - Look For Other Ways
The environment can be vaulted or parkoured around, there is no one way to proceed. Take the shortcuts around to keep going. - If Spotted, Don't Run
While getting caught is not ideal, it can happen. Use Bluff to get out of a situation or, if worse comes to worst, confront them and take them down. Just remember to keep the fighting in the room to avoid attracting attention. - Combine Bluffs, Gadgets, and Combat
If spotted, the best way to get out of a situation is to take out all the enemies. Use Bluff to distract them, then follow up with a Gadget and then take them down.
