- Talk to Estevez and collect weapons
Once control switches to Alan, head to Estevez and talk to him. After finishing the conversation with Estevez, you can collect weapons and supplies from the box next to Estevez.
- Defeat enemies while heading to the parking lot
After collecting weapons and supplies, defeat enemies while heading to the parking lot. After defeating a certain number of enemies, a gate covered in darkness will appear. Burn away the 2 orbs with your light to proceed.
- Collect supplies from the wooden boxes at the street lamps
Collect supplies from the wooden boxes at the street lamps along the way. You can collect ammunition, batteries, and other supplies needed to defeat enemies.
- Drive to Bright Falls by car
After arriving at the parking lot, drive to Bright Falls by car. Upon arriving in Bright Falls, Alan enters the darkness once more.
- Obtain the novel 'Return' from Alan's sign
After the scene changes, explore Bright Falls. When you examine the sign that reads "ALAN WAKE RETURN" along the way, you'll realize you need the novel 'Return', which you can obtain from Alan's sign at the very back of Deerfest.
- Avoid cult members and exit through the back of the building
After obtaining the novel, head straight toward the exit on the back side of the building. If you take even one hit from the group wearing deer masks, you'll be trapped in a loop and it's game over.
- Head to the health center exit and enter the mansion
After entering the health center, Alice will faintly materialize to guide you toward the exit leading to the mansion. As you approach the exit, Scratch will appear, so escape to a lit space without touching him. Once Scratch leaves, head to the exit again and enter the mansion to proceed.
- Have Ahti unlock the room on the 3rd floor
After entering the mansion, head to the 3rd floor. When you go up to the 3rd floor and turn left, Ahti will appear and unlock the writing room door for you.
- Examine the typewriter to obtain the Echo
After entering the writing room, examine the typewriter on the desk. When you examine the typewriter, an Echo will appear, and you'll obtain the plot element "The Price Must Be Paid" from Saga's voice.
- Rewrite the scene on the writing board
After hearing Saga's voice, go to the writing board and rewrite the "Writing Room" scene to "The Price Must Be Paid". After rewriting, Return 8 "Deerfest" will be cleared, and the protagonist will switch to Saga.
Return 8 Collection Elements
Koskela Brothers Commercial
In Return 8 "Deerfest", you can obtain the Koskela Brothers commercial "Return Book Review" at the diner visible to the right from the starting position. Since the Koskela Brothers commercial is a collection element necessary for obtaining a trophy, collect the other 5 before Return 6 and be sure to pick this one up in Return 8.
