Roots Run Deep Walkthrough | Where Winds Meet

Streams rush swift and wide, down the slopes in restless tide.
Alone I roam the barren plain, a solitary soul in pain.
At sunset's fall on the crest, I curl and shiver, seeking rest.
Cold numbs my throat, my tongue retreats deep down below.
The river's tears softly fall, a mournful, endless, aching call.

[1] Look for traces of the Burlap Sack.

Proceed to the map marker and continue Burlap Sack's story.

[2] Follow the Little Fox.

The animal leads Burlap Sack to the Black Water Station!

[3] Go to Black Water Station.

To Burlap Sack's surprise, the guard by the gate is already dead.

[4] Investigate the Situation.

Go to a high point without alerting the invaders.

Burlap Sack meets Handlebar Hu again while climbing up.

Continue forward, as Hu doesn't want anything to do with the old man.

[5] Sneak out of the Station to seek Help.

After inspecting the place, Burlap Sack sees that the caravan members are in danger from the bandits again.

Handlebar Hu suddenly attacks Burlap Sack before he can ask for help to the Oghuz.

[6] Find Cover to Observe.

Take cover while searching for the Sack stolen by Handlebar Hu.

[7] Grab the Sack.

Wait for the right moment to retrieve the bag of seeds.

[8] Help Xiaolan Escape.

Near the Sack, Burlap Sack sees Xiaolan again. The two characters must sneak away from the bandits together.

[9] Fight the Bandits.

Unfortunately, the bandits catch Xiaolan. Instead of running away this time, Burlap Sack stays to fight.

The battle begins after a cutscene showing Burlap Sack with friends in the past.

With the Tang Sword unsheathed, click Deflect when the red light appears to neutralize the attack and deal counter damage.

[10] Watch the Cutscene.

Burlap Sack uses all remaining strength to fight off numerous bandits. Xiaolan is saved, but the journey finally comes to an end for him.

With his last request of being taken under the tree, Burlap Sack gives his Dali coins to Xiaolan. Then, he lays down and puts some of the seeds on his eyes.

A final cutscene explains the history of cotton in China, concluding Burlap Sack's storyline.
