Finding more observation notes, Ogden has concluded that the person who wrote them or at least sending him these notes is testing him!

This is available after hatching the Canyne Egg and finishing Ogden's Ch. 1 Side Story.

[1] Talk to Ogden at the base.

Ogden shows the player new observation notes that clearly have the habitat of the monster stated as Canalta Timberlands. This indicates that the author of these notes has travelled outside of Azuria and have crossed the Meridian or have been receiving notes from beyond the border.

Ogden says he got scolded hard when he chose to travel to the south before but had been forbidden as he had not crossed the Meridian and he promised never to go beyond the borders again...oh...oops. Anyway, he concludes that someone may be testing him.

[2] Find the Exotic Seregios.

Travel to Blessing Hill and Ground Dive in this area. This will bring the party near the place where the monster was sighted in the notes. Next, go towards this area.

Unexpectedly, the team meets Gaul on their way to the giant tree. First, Kora, then Gaul? Hm. It does seem like a coincidence. Gaul claims that he's here to check out the vegetation and has gathered some specimen for research and probably to plant himself. He leaves with Murray's reminder that their plants might wither if they stay any longer and asks the captain to take care that Ogden doesn't get too caught up in his research.

Ogden says that Gaul had been opposed to Ogden joining the rangers and Ogden thinks it's probably of his independence streak with travelling the world and all that. He had to appeal to the king himself in order to join the Rangers. The player says that must have been a decade ago and Gaul must surely acknowledge Ogden by now. Ogden, though, knows that Gaul had been his son's best friend and had seen that Ogden chose adventuring over his family and hadn't been there when Lucas died.

Walk towards the area as described by the notes. While admiring the tree, Rudy tells the player that he is worried that the conflict between Ogden and Gaul might affect the chemistry of the Rangers. The player admits that they, too, are worried. Ogden tells them not to worry about it and focus on what they're tracking instead.

Ogden then hints that they can lure the monster with the observation notes. Talk to the Honey-Harvesting Man for another hint.

Bring an Arzuros here to lure the Exotic Seregios. Battle it and win!

In the end, Ogden concludes that the author has travelled outside of Azuria and that their notes are legitimate.
