How to Get Two-Handed Axes

Blacksmith

You can get all the types of weapons from the blacksmith including the Two-Handed Axe. Bring enough Col and crafting materials to get the specific weapon you want. You can also get blueprints for weapons to craft during your adventures.

You can also check the stats of each weapon, including their Unique MODs. With this, you can select the weapon that fits your playstyle.

Two-Handed Axe as a Weapon

2haxe

The two-handed axe is a classic weapon where the attack strength is high but its speed is low. It is worth noting to try out its speed first as you might be comfortable at this speed or you would prefer something faster, in which then you can invest in some attack speed either through putting some points into the Agility stat or using Ex-Mods.

However, axes do have the highest base attack in the game. Rather than worry about combos, you can use an axe to kill a monster in one or two hits, even Elite ones. The Sword Skills of axes also deal significant damage and downing and staggering properties that help compensate for the low attack speed.

But if you wish to master axe gameplay, you should become a master of dodging. While you can still guard with your weapon, it is less efficient than when guarding with a shield as you cannot attack right away after guarding.

What Stats to Focus On

Axes use up a lot of stamina, so you definitely need some investment in END. If you would like to invest more into STR as the high damaging power of the axe is its biggest strength, then you can supplement with some Ex-Mods that decrease stamina consumption. You can decrease stamina consumption though with higher END.

Since the Sword Skills deal great damage, it can be worth investing in them as well and focus on them instead for your gameplay. It is better to put more into Mind than DEX as DEX will also deal with parrying and slashing, which isn't as prominent in the axe playstyles.

If you would like a slightly faster axe, putting a bit of points into AGI would be ideal.

Two-Handed Axe Sword Skills Usage

All two-handed axe Sword Skills can be used for AoE damage and have high damage power.

There are 4 categories of Two-Handed Axe Sword Skills:

  • Large Attack

These attacks cause great damage onto the opponents either through one big hit, or through several hits. Some of them involve charging the weapon for greater strength.

These skills include: Fierce Shock, Meteor Strike, and Serpent Strike

  • Closing the Gap

These Sword Skills bring you closer to the enemy, which can be useful when they have an AoE attack or mobs around them that make it hard to attack them directly.

These skills include: Roaring Jolt, Whirlwind, andRising Cross

  • Drawing In

This is similar to closing the gap, but instead of you moving towards the enemies, the enemies will be drawn to you while being damaged.

These skills include: Chain Seeker and Gravity

  • Knock-Back

These moves will knock the enemy back or into the air. This enables you to put some distance between you and your foe.

These skills include: Volcano Slam, Rising Cross, Rockfang

Each Sword Skill has its place and some might do better in the overworld than in boss fights.

Choose according to your play style. Some Sword Skills like Serpent Strike requires holding the attack button to charge up attacks. They will not automatically do the next stages of the attacks which means if you are not paying attention, you might be losing out on damage.

Recommended skills to use in general: Whirlwind, Rising Cross, Gravity
