How many endings are there in Hellraiser Revival?

In Clive Barker's Hellraiser Revival, there are two endings to the game: the Experience Beyond Limits ending and the Human After All ending.

The choice of which ending you can get happens at the very end of the game, where Aidan can either choose to go with the Fallen Cenobite and become a Cenobite himself or stay in the human world and be a human.

final choice

The final chapter of the game offers one last save point just before Aidan returns to Sunny after his arm gets bitten off. That save point is your only chance to go back and see the other ending.

Understanding the context

There's a reason why the choice is being made to Aidan in the first place, and it is important to understand that to understand the endings.

Aidan and Sunny's relationship

Aidan was a medical school dropout who later joined a biker gang with a past addiction to alcohol and substance abuse. He later met Yoon "Sunny" Sun-Hee and began a relationship with her. While in the game he believed it to be an idyllic and loving relationship, the truth was that he was possessive of her and she never returned his affections. The Merchant, Zora, tries to help Aidan understand that he may not wholly love Sunny as he keeps claiming. He says that Sunny gives him a rush, which Zora compares to an addiction.

Aidan was just addicted to her, just as he was with his other vices.

Zora about Aidan and Sunny

By the end of the game, Sunny reveals she purposefully called the Cenobites to her so that she could join them. She was not satisfied with human pleasures and wanted to experience what they did. She only asked for Aidan's help so that she could fulfill her end of the bargain for the Cenobites. Aidan claims she used him, but she rebuts that they both used each other.

Sunny about the relationship

After leaving with the Cenobites, the Fallen offers Aidan the choice, but Zora tells Aidan he can always change, but the choice is still his.

Experience Beyond Limits Ending Explained

experience beyond limits ending

To get the Experience Beyond Limits ending, all you need to do is go through the wall and enter the Void. In this ending, Aidan joins the Fallen and begins his process of becoming a Cenobite.

While it can be seen as Aidan making a choice for himself to be satisfied with other things, there is a darker interpretation.

Throughout the game, Aidan has been pursuing Sunny like how an addict would pursue their vices. He goes through great lengths to do so because he cannot live without his addiction. Wherever she is, he will go. Now that he sees Sunny going to join the Cenobites, he does the same thing. Sunny has yet again led him to somewhere where he thinks he will be happy.

Despite what Zora was trying to warn him, Aidan has let himself succumb to his vices, but at least it was by his choice.

Human All Along Ending Explained

human all along

To get the Human All Along ending, simply wait for the walls to close. In this ending, Aidan decides to find a life without Sunny.

While in this ending Aidan may have lost an arm and the supposed love of his life, he finally makes a choice that is not strung along to Sunny. This ending is not necessarily the "happy ending" of the game, as Aidan has lost a part of himself, cannot return to his old life, and has no idea what to do for his future. He does, however, at least have a future, just one without Sunny. All he can do is see where this life takes him and hopefully find a better life.

Aidan has finally put down his main addiction, which is the first step for him to change, just like Zora said all humans can do.
