How to Beat Droeg, the Conquerer

[1] Summong Gragu to assist in battle.

Gragu available for summon

Gragu can be summoned to aid in the fight against Droeg. Let him draw the boss' attention while the player recovers or deals damage.

[2] Exploit its slow recovery and block its attacks for a Riposte.

Player performing a Riposte

Droeg's attacks are highly predictable because of their long windups and clear cues. Take advantage of these by blocking or parrying to rapidly deal Break Damage. Some attacks, such as Stomp, have lengthy recovery windows that leave Droeg vulnerable to counterattacks.

[3] Bloodcurse, Stasis, Lightning are particularly effective against the boss.

Player dealing Bloodcurse damage

The Axe and Dagger paired with Arbiter's Prize can quickly apply Bloodcurse and take a sizeable chunk of the boss' HP, especially during its recovery windows.

Player inflicting Lightning damage

For Lightning, pair the Axatana with Voltaic Crown to build Shock and stagger the boss, interrupting its attacks.

Player inflicting Stasis damage

Stasis is another strong option. It can further restrict the boss' already slow movement and make its attacks more sluggish. Equip Torpor Stone with the Axatana to use this combination.

Proxima dealing both types of status damage

Proxima's Biosampler can inflict both Lightning and Stasis, further enhancing existing status conditions while being a useful tool for closing the distance. Don't forget to add Duality Stone and Auspicious Stone to the kit. Duality Stone triggers each melee attack to hit twice while Auspicious Stone increases the chance of dealing critical damage, melting the boss in no time.

[4] Use Shadow Strike to completely avoid its Spectral Barrage.

Shadow Strike makes the projectiles miss their target

Casting Tiel's Shadow Strike just before the projectiles land will make them miss the player. The boss remains vulnerable during the first half of the attack, allowing the player to continuously attack before casting Shadow Strike as the projectiles are about to land.
