How to Get the True Ending in Castlevania: Belmont's Curse
The true ending takes four steps: ring the four Bells of Virtue, defeat The Self, equip Absolution, and beat Dracula.
This guide walks you through each one. If you want to compare all three endings first, check out our overview.
How to Find the Bells of Virtue
To proceed in getting this ending, you will need these Arcanas to reach the Bells of Virtue:
| Virtue | Arcana Spell to Equip | Who Blesses You |
|---|---|---|
| Prudence | Mirror Walk | Eleanor |
| Justice | Chains of Justice | Saint Louis |
| Temperance | Freezing Path | The Ferryman |
| Courage | Infernal Pyre | Joan of Arc |
[1] Enter the Gallery of the Four Virtues.
Head to the Gallery of the Four Virtues in Notre-Dame. There are four stained glass windows, one for each virtue: Prudence, Justice, Temperance, and Courage. The bells are found behind them.
[2] Clear the Four Bell Challenges.
For each window, equip the matching spell from the table above and interact with it. Rose is sent to another realm. Clear the trial, then ring the bell by attacking it.
None of the trials are needed to beat Dracula, but all four are required for the true ending. Each one tests something different.
Bell of Prudence Challenge
This is a platforming challenge built around dodging. Buzzsaws and other moving hazards come at you, and you have to jump over them. It tests your timing more than anything else.
Bell of Justice Challenge
This one mixes platforming and combat. You make your way from one end to the other while taking down enemies along the way.
Bell of Temperance Challenge
This is a vertical platforming challenge. You have to reach the top while outrunning the mist rising from below. It may be the easiest of the four, but one misstep sends you back to the start.
Bell of Courage Challenge
This trial pits you against Joan of Arc again. She is more aggressive than in the first fight, and it is the hardest of the four, so come prepared.
[3] Defeat The Self.
Once all four bells ring, interact with the altar in the middle of the gallery. The Self appears, a manifestation of everything dark inside Rose. Don't underestimate her.
When she falls, you earn The Self Arcana and the Absolution spell. Talk to the spirit that appears afterward to finish the scene.
[4] Equip Absolution and Beat Dracula.
You're one fight away. Head to the Throne Room and fight Dracula like you would for the normal ending.
