Arcanas have MP Costs that you need to consider when using them.
The Arcanas are unlocked by finding their corresponding Tarot Card and fulfilling the condition.
List of Effects (Blessings) of Petrifying Gaze
Petrifying Gaze has the following Blessings:
- Killing a petrified enemy restores a quantity of mana equivalent to HALF the cost of Medusa's spell.
- The closer the targets affected by this spell are to Rose, the longer they remain petrified, and the more hits it takes to break the petrification.
How to Unlock Blessing of Petrifying Gaze
You need to complete Works of Mercy to unlock Blessings of the Arcana. The Blessings for Petrifying Gaze can only be unlocked by fulfilling the following conditions:
- Petrify an enemy carrying a shield with Medusa's Spell. Not again, Perseus!
- Kill 25 enemies from fall damage directly after petrifying them in the air.

To get Petrifying Gaze, follow the four clues to Medusa and defeat her.

The Prophetess Clues
To make the Tarot Card turn into an Arcana that you can equip, you need to fulfill certain conditions. The following are the clues provided for it:

Clue 1: Roman Baths
You find this clue in the Sepulcher of the Knight.

Clue 2: Cemetery Fountain
Located at the Fountain of the Innocents. It hints at a way to drop down to Medusa's lair through the fountain.

Clue 3: Guardian's Gaze
Go to the elevated platform past the Roman Baths spikes. Read this clue before fighting Medusa, since it warns about her gaze.

Get this clue in Pauper's Grave, past the Chapel of the Kings. It points to a hidden passage beneath the hollow tree.

The Prophetess Tarot Card Location
This Tarot Card is Medusa's card, and you unlock it by defeating her. You fight her in the Ossuary of the Innocents, a district of Holy Innocents' Cemetery.
The nearest Mirror of Life is in the Ancient Sewers. Make sure to save there first.
Defeating her also gives you The Prophetess's Key, one of the three keys that open the Gate to the Catacombs.
