How to beat Medusa

[1] Move to a different platform when Medusa is attacking.

Three Hit Combo

Most of Medusa's attack sweeps across the platform, so Rose will mostly be moving in between different platforms and relying on her ranged attacks to damage Medusa. Pick your moments when to strike and move between different platforms.

[2] Drop to the lower platform or turn away when Medusa is charging her Petrifying Gaze.

Dodging Petrifying Gaze

When Rose keeps her distance from Medusa, she'll often respond by charging up a petrifying gaze, which makes staying far away for a period of time risky! Watch for the wind-up and be ready to drop down to the lower platforms or look away from Medusa to stay out of line of her gaze!

[3] Don't stay on the lower platform for too long.

Tail Smash

Staying on the lower platform will cause Medusa's tail to slam into the lower platforms! Once Rose has dodge the petrifying gaze, get back to he upper platforms as fast as possible!

[4] Move away to the farthest upper platform from Medusa when she performs her Unrelenting Combo.

Furthest Upper Platform

Medusa will attack the nearest platform nonstop, making it hard to get in melee range when she performs this attack! The lower platforms aren't safe either, since she uses her tail to continuously smash the lower platforms. Use a range attack to damage her and go back in when she's done attacking.

[5] Use the boulder as cover.

Boulder.png

A boulder drops into the lower and farthest platform when Medusa attacks with her petrifying beam; treat this as you signal that the attack is coming. Take cover behind the boulder while Medusa is attacking, then wait until it's over before going on the offensive!

Medusa Rewards

Medusa will grant Rose the following upon her defeat:

  • Petrifying Gaze
  • The Prophetess's Key
