How to beat Joan of Arc

Joan of Arc First Encounter

[1] Use your Arcane Whip to dodge her massive AoE attack.

Hooking the Arcane Whip onto the Luminous Anchor to dodge Fiery Plunge

Joan's Fiery Plunge covers the entire arena with flames. While this attack can be evaded by a well-timed jump, using your Arcane Whip to dodge it is much easier. Latch onto the Luminous Anchors when she executes this attack.

[2] Stay between the fireballs when she uses the Pillars of Fire attack.

Dodging the Pillars of Fire attack

Fireballs gradually spawn from Joan and spread across the arena. Once they fill the space above, she pulls them down to crash into the ground, creating pillars of fire. Stand between the descending fireballs to avoid the attack and cast an Arcana to deal damage from a distance.

[3] Crouch to dodge her thrusting attacks.

Crouching to dodge Joan's thrusts

You can also crouch to easily avoid her sword thrusts instead of jumping.

[4] New attacks and an increased attack range during Phase 2.

Joan of Arc transitioning into her second phase

Below 50% HP, Joan performs Fiery Plunge and enters a more powerful, burning state. She retains most of her previous attacks, while some become enhanced or altered. Her backward thrust now shoots out a longer flame, the first jab of her twin thrust attack has a longer reach, and her rising slash creates a larger wave of fire.

[5] Equip Holy Cross and deal damage in multiple instances.

Holy Cross hitting Joan multiple times

The Holy Cross has the potential to deal extra damage to Joan, as it can strike her several times. Stick near the center of the arena to let the cross hit her twice, once on the way out and again as it returns.

Joan of Arc Second Encounter

[1] You fight Joan again during the Four Virtues Trials.

Interact with the stained window to find Joan

Finally free from Dracula's shackles, Joan challenges Rose to a duel during the Four Virtues Trials. Enter the first glass-stained window and make your way up the cathedral to find her.

[2] Joan retains most of her moveset but becomes far more aggressive and has more HP.

Second encounter with Joan of Arc

Joan performs all her previous moves, with Blazing Thrust being the only addition, but she is noticeably faster and stronger. She also has a larger health pool and enters her second phase once her HP declines to 50%.

After seemingly defeating Joan, she recovers 70% of her HP and resumes the fight directly in her second phase. Since Luminous Anchors are not present in the arena, double jumping becomes vital to avoiding her Fiery Plunge.

Joan of Arc Rewards

Joan of Arc will grant Rose the following upon her defeat in the first encounter:
