The Roots of All Evil Summary
Musashi finishes Lady Murasaki's requests and goes back to Rokudo-chinnoji Temple to talk to Takamura and Okuni. It seems like the nearby bridge is full of Genma, and a particularly powerful swordsman has joined their ranks. The only way there is by clearing out the Malice en route to the bridge.

The Roots of All Evil Walkthrough
[1] Finish Lady Murasaki's request.
In order to move on, you must first solve the first Mystery of Kyoto, The Light of Vengeance. Optionally, you can also rescue the lost Lion Dogs. The more you return to Lady Murasaki, the better the rewards.
[2] Consult with Takamura.
Return to Rokudo-chinnoji Temple and talk to Takamura and Okuni. Takamura senses some nearby Malice, but before he can say more, Okuni comes running in to report that Gojo-ohashi Bridge has been overrun by Genma. Shizuka suspects the one responsible is Benkei, a former cohort of Yoshitsune.

[3] Purify Toribeno.
Head to Gojo Street - East. Go up the stairs surrounded by bamboo.
Using Hinagiku's strength, Musashi can now run on walls for a short period of time to get to places.
You can parry and block attacks while wall running by using the block/guard button.
Seal the rifts in the area. Don't forget to get rid of any flowers of malice you see along the way.

[4] Defeat Dohatsu-Ten - Heaven's Bane
For the last rift, you will be up against a mini boss-level enemy.
This Genma can counterattack then you hit their blocks so watch out! Also try to parry and counter as many of their attacks as you can as not all of their attacks can be dodged.
Absorb the rift afterwards.
[5] Get rid of the flowers of malice.
Follow the marker to find the last flower and destroy it.
