Charms and How to Use Them
Charms are equippable items that boost your performance in some way during battle. They may affect your damage output or help you in accumulating certain gauges or the like.
Best Charms
There are only 3 possible charm slots, so you have to choose carefully based on your playstyle. There are no best charms that fit all. See below, which charms prioritize which category that may fit how you play the game.
Survivability
These charms will help you survive better in the game.
| Charm | Description |
|---|---|
 Charm of the Healer | Increases the amount of health restored when healing. |
 Charm of Purification | Reduce the damage taken while affected by Malice. |
 Charm of Protection | Reduces the amount of health lost when you are attacked. |
Stamina
These charms help you recover your stamina. Stamina determines your ability to be able to both attack and defend, so these are definitely worth looking at.

 Charm of Stamina | Increases the speed at which the Stamina Gauge fills. |
 Lovable Charm: White Monkey | A lucky white monkey charm that reduces the amount of stamina lost when an enemy attack lands. |
Blazing State
The more you parry attacks, the faster you will be able to reach the Blazing State.

 Charm of Zeal | Increases the speed at which the Blaze Gauge fills. |
 Blazing Charm | Allow you to stay in the Blazing State for longer. |
 Lovable Charm: Mentor | A charm modeled after a mighty swordsman who serves as a mentor to Miyamoto Musashi. Further increases the amount of attack power boosted when in the Blazing State. |
Reflex Gauge
Similar to the Blazing State, the more you are able to do reflex dodges, the more your Reflex Gauge is able to fill up so that you can do a follow-up attack.

 Lovable Charm: Lion Dog | An adorable Lion Dog charm that increases the strength of attacks following parries and Reflex Dodges. |
Issen
Issen is a special combat move in Onimusha wherein you need precise timing to do a very powerful counterattack.

Attack Output
These charms help in increasing your general damage output.

 Lovable Charm: Oni Lady | A charm modeled after a beautiful Oni Lady. Increases the attack power of special skill. |
Oni Awakening
Oni Awakening is done by collecting Purple Souls, which can only be collected when using the Oni Armament Still Water

 Charm of Oni Power | Increases the Speed at which the Oni Power Gauge fills. |
Lovable Charm: Oni Lady | A charm modeled after a beautiful Oni Lady. Increases the attack power of special skill. |
 Charm of Awakening | Increases the speed at which the Awakening Gauge fills. |
Status Affliction
While exploring areas, there will sometimes be explosive barrels that you can hit or oil jars you can throw at enemies. These will inflict the enemies to be in a burning or oil-soaked state. A fire may also start by using the Oni Armament Wind-Whipper when there are torches in the surrounding area.

 Sadist's Strength | Increases the amount of damage dealth to enemies that are burning, ablaze or oil-soked. |
 Lovable Charm: Little Dancer | A charm modeled after a storied danced. Increases the duration that enemies suffer from the burning, ablaze, and oil-soaked statuses. |
Game Progression
The charms below are useful in obtaining Red Souls for upgrading skills and charms. They help greatly in progressing through the game and becoming stronger.

 Reaper's Charm | Increases the amount of red souls absorbed. |
 Lovable Charm: Kubi Akari | A charm modeled after a pesky Kubi Akari. Triggers a soul absorption bonus even after absorbing just a few souls in a row. |
