| Description | A swordsman in search of glory, much like Mushashi himself. He was also almost as gifted, but forever fell just short of his rival. He was killed by Genma nad returned to life with an Oni Gauntlet, after which he set about haunting Musashi's every move once again. After losing to Musashi at Kiyomizu-dera Temple, a mysterious white-robed man encouraged him to star killing people and stealing their souls. Drunk on the power this granted him, he finally fully lost his way. Only time will tell where the path he has chosen will take him... |

| Hitotsume Sho | |

| Description | This Genma may look like a Hitotsume Gasa, but it's much, much stronger, hence the "Sho," which means "leader." One of theses is enough to give even a seasoned Onimusha a run for their money, but they don't always attack alone. If you see one, take care. |

| Description | An endlessly greedy Genma that defiled Kiyomizu-dera Temple with corrupting clouds of Malice. Though it may talk as if all it cares about is food, underestimate its appetite for combat at your peril. Its sheer physical size makes it extremely dangerour up close, and if you are unable to deal with the blunt force trauma it dishes out in spades, you'll soon find yourself struggling. However, it's far from a fast mover, so with a little focus, you should be able to catch most of its blows on your blade. |

| Description | A Genma named for its single bulging eye and its grotesquely distended, umbrella-like head. Though it acts on pure instinct, attacking and eating its victims without mercy, it is not entirely mindless and even shows some ability to communicate with its fellow. |

| Kubi Akari | |

| Description | A Genma resembling a human head that can fly freely through the sky. The"akari" of its name means "light," balls of which it emits from its mouth. When near death, it will swell up and explode, aiming to obliterate any nearby enemies. This can be turned to your advantage, by catching other Genma in the explosion. |

| Description | A Genma covered with enormous spikes. It spins toward its enemies, hoping to flay the flesh from their bones. However, a skilled warrior can send it spinning right back to where it came from, to sow chaos among its allies instead. |

| Description | The awful result when a parasitical Genma strips a human host of its flesh. They are driven by the same bloodthirsty madness as their fellow Genma, and if the host happens to have been well-armored, can be very hard to hurt. The parasite gives them the power to absorbs souls, thereby entering a blazing frenzy, and fighting them is largely a matter of getting to said souls before they do. |

| Byakue | |

| Description | A giant Genma covered from head to toe in talismans that likes to charge around the battlefield with its enormous axe. As its body becomes stained with the blood of its victims, it gains an unholy strength-a strength that makes fighting it a serious challenge, even for an Onimusha. And as if that wasn't bad enough, while Blazing, it will become even stronger, and emit clouds of Malice to boot. The safest strategy is to try and deal with its attacks deftly enough that it doesn't get the chance. |

| Description | A Genma easily identified by its huge horns and the wings on its back. Its swift movement and wildly swinging blade keep its enemeis under unrelenting pressure, and the more blood that stains its swords, the stronger it becomes. Aborbing souls will also make it stronger, causing it to rain down endless punishingly powerful attacks. |

| Rasho Gan | |

| Description | A Genma skilled in deception. It busies itself with binding and severing fates at Yusui Konpiragu Shrine-in other words, severing limbs from the innocent to harvest materials. Both cunning and deadly, it uses the strange threads that issue from its body to launch sudden attacks from beyond sword's reach. It draws strength from nearby stone-flower towers through these threads, so cut them to deny tha advantage they provide. |

| Description | A warrior monk famed for his superhuman strength who was once Yoshitsune's most trusted retainer, but has been brought back by Dokyo as a mindless Genma. One false move, and he's liable to flatten you. And if you can't shatter his armor, you won't be able to so much scratch him. |

| Description | A hot-blooded character who enjoys nothing more than pitched battle against a worthy opponent. Uses the wind like a weapon, sending swirling whirlwinds spinning toward his foes. Absorbing enough souls will enable him to take to the air, from where he can unleash attacks uninterrupted. This may put him out of reach of your sword, but some well-aimed shots to the strange organs protruding from his back will soon bring him crashing to earth. |

| Description | A Genma who has made his lair at Kennin-ji Temple along with his younger brother Ifuu. Much like his brother, he lives for a challenge, hence his desire to take Musashi on in battle. Fights nith a naginata and a slew of lightning attacks. Avoiding these and following his movements carefully are the keys to victory here. |

| Description | A legendary warrior who became a hero through a series of celebrated victories several centuries ago. His past successes were thanks to his Oni Gauntlet, and the terrible power to which it grants him access gives him a crazed relentlessness. He was sealed away in the depths of hell, but recruited the Genma to his cause, and fought his way back upward, hoping to destroy the Oni and recover both his life and glory. Despite all his scheming, he was ultimately defeated by Musashi, and disappeared. Alas, it would seem his ultimate aim was more sinister than simply sowing chaos. |

| Description | A Genma that terrorized Kyoto long ago, and now back with vengeance. The range of attacks it unleashes is as varied as the number of other creatures it seems to be an amalgamation of. It attacks like a wild beast toying with its prey, and absorbing souls will allow it to unlease lightning from its tail. But don't let its speed and ferocity put you on the back foot-take careful aim at its tail with your arrows, and you'll soon have things under control. |

Underground Laboratory (2)

| Description | A powerful being created when a Kogai absorbs, a large number of souls. it retains the same abilities, but is much stronger, and will emit Malice while Blazing that will send other enemies into a Blazing state as well. As such, it must be dealth with very carefully indeed. Stun it when you see it preparing to fire forth Malice, and you might just escape unscathed. |

| Description | A Genma created by Dokyo in her underground laboratory. Its mish-mash of faces and slithering tentacles is more than a little disturbing, but far more unnerving is the fact that if you carelessly cut one in half, you'll just have two to deal with instead. Aim to destroy the unsettling eyeball that protrudes from its flesh-that should allow you to vanquish it while preventing it from multiplying. |

Kyoto Imperial Palace (1)

| Description | A regular Nue made all the more ugly by Dokyo through the use of various unsavory additives. Its increased size brings with it a requisite increase in strength, and it's also able to command lightning with ease. It can make powerful use of it talons-another new additions to its arsena-but caching these on your sword can open it up for a pummeling. Given its prodigious physical size, taking out individual body parts is the way to proceed here. |

| Description | A winged, ninja-like Genma that loves nothing more than waiting for an enemy to slip up, then jumping in to attack and when two of them get together, they'll coordinate their movements, giving you twice the trouble. This is dangerous, but if you deal with it shrewdly, you can turn the situation to your advantage. |
| How to Get | Instead of crossing the bridge at the Valley jump down through the ladder and use Wall Run to reach the platform and grab the Genma Note from a chest revealed by Oni Power. |

| Description | A Genma that lives in the water. Lures the unwary in with the human-shaped appendage on the back of its head, then flings projectiles at them, and occasionally attacks up close, too. Can be safely attacked from afar while it's in the water, but it's better to wait for it to strike, then drag it out onto dry land and finish it off. |

| Description | An Oni traitor originally known as Ura who has made his lair atop Mount Oe. Transformed by Dokyo into a fearsome Genma, he survives by allying himself with the strong, and has a thorough disdain for those he sees as weaker than himself. Drinking alcohol not only heals him, it makes him stronger, so he should be prevented from indulging his habit at all cost. |

Arashiyama (2)

| Description | Dead human bodies that have been turned into Genma. They're slow-moving, and not the best with weapons, but they also don't feel pain, and won't so much as flinch when you hit them. Don't just rush in swinging wildly-their counters can kill. They also throw acid from a distance, which will hurt if it hits you, and cause problems if it lands on the ground, too. |

| Dokyo | |

| Description | One of Yoshitsune's faithful retainers. Not actually a Genma-at least, that's what she says. She's not given to speaking in straightforward terms, which means her motives for serving Yoshitsune and her overall aims are something of a Mystery. In combat, she likes to chip away ay her enemies from afar, slowly wearing them down. Staving off her attacks and working your way in close is the key to defeating her. |

Use of Genma Notes
Genma Notes give you information about the enemies you've been fighting in Onimusha: Way of the Sword. They are more lore-oritented than practical for battle use. For any Onimusha lorehead, these are a must-collect!
They are also collectibles, and obtaining all of them will give you a trophy.
