List of Tips and Tricks for Early Game
Always Unlock Adventuring Guideposts
Adventuring Guideposts serve as the fast travel points of the game. Interact with them first to unlock them. Don't forget to save your progress here as well!
Adjust the Difficulty
Depending on your preferred playstyle, choose the difficulty that suits you most.
- Easy is for those who want to focus on the story.
- Normal and Hard are better suited for players more experienced with action RPGs.
- There's also a Very Hard option for those up for the ultimate challenge.
The difficulty can be changed in the settings, but Elliot must be at an Adventure Guidepost to do so.

| As the game progresses, players might find the companion dialogues to be repetitive. This can be reduced by switching their speech setting to "Reticent". |
Interact with NPCs
An adventurer must always be curious about their surroundings. Make it a habit to speak with every NPC you encounter. Some of them hand out tips or rewards as the story progresses.
Speech bubbles are an indicator of whether you've already talked to them.

Claim Your Bonus Items
The game offers bonus items for players who pre-ordered, own the deluxe edition, or have save data from other Square Enix titles.
These can be collected on the second floor of the Orphanage. Don't worry if you don't have these items though, since they aren't required to unlock the Accessory Collector Trophy.

Focus on Getting Useful Weapons Like Boomerang
As early as the Prologue, Elliot can buy the Spin Back Boomerang at the Item Shop. This weapon is useful for dealing long-range attacks, so pick one up early. It's also a good idea to stock up on Empty Vials for medicine while you're there.
Once you've saved up enough Tul, the Flutterer's Cape is also worth grabbing as it makes exploration much easier!
Don't Forget to Collect Cats
In addition to the possible rewards you can get from the Ailurophilic Traveler, collecting these feline friends is actually tied to one of the game's endings. Make sure to spot and interact with them.

Keep Your Eyes Peeled for Manuscripts
Other than the furry cats around Philabieldia, inspect glowing spots while exploring to find Manuscripts. They contain accounts of past events and can be reread anytime at the bookshelf in the Orphanage.
Make Use of Magicite Fragments
Magicite grants various effects to weapons. Farm fragments from breakable objects, bosses, and chests, then head to the Magicite Shop to create one and experiment with different combinations.

Don't Skip Side Quests
Take your time exploring each Age, as some NPCs will have a Request icon above their head showing that they have a Side Quest for you. Complete them as soon as they appear to get rewards.

Explore Shrines of Life to find these Shards. Collect four of them to increase Elliot's maximum health!
Keep Your Drop Bonus Going
Defeating enemies in a row increases your drop rate. Getting hit resets this bonus, so dodge or block whenever you can.
