When you're done checking things out, head over to the bridge leading to the human settlement, Hitoyori.
Elliot will be stopped by some villagers. He is checked aggressively by the village men, but the conversation is interrupted when they start arguing with the village women over the belief of someone called Hirk thinking that learning magic from the Myu would be beneficial to humans.
They are stopped by the village chief, Kai. Kai seems adamant about the laws of the village and that they shouldn't depend on the Myu or seek their help.
From the earlier conversations, Elliot concludes that they have indeed reached the Age of Budding. He and Faie surmise that maybe the aforementioned Hirk might know where to find the Myu.
[2] Talk to Hirk.
Travel to the southwest house in the village. There, you will find a woman called Hirk. Hirk believes that humans can learn from Myu and use magic to fight off Beastmen. She talks about how there was a Myu that visited 10 years ago and there may be clues about them in the Snowfields.
Elliot comments that the people seem fearful of the Myu. Hirk says it is ignorance. It is said that the Myu quelled a great evil back in the Age of Myths. She believes that the Myu are not like the Beastmen and can actually be talked to.
[3] Look around the Snowfields.
Travel to Southern Whiterea. A cut scene will begin as you explore further up from the Guidepost.
Elliot spots a child running into the encampment of the Beastmen. From a distance, he can hear some people talking.
Approach the couple. They appear to be the parents of the child running off earlier. Elliot offers to help them look for her. They accept and introduce themselves as Lyudmila and Gogyo.
[4] Search for the little girl.
Look north, starting with the Ulfr camps. Elliot will find footprints in the snow. Following them, he sees that they lead to Dragonpillar.

The little girl runs to the patch of flowers. Elliot explains to her that he knows her parents and asks why she was looking for the Torchflower. She says that her father had given one to her mother a long time ago. Her parents had been fighting recently and she thought one would cheer them up.
The little girl asks Elliot his name, and in turn, tells him that she is Mao.
[7] Reunite Mao with her parents.
You will automatically proceed to Lyudmila's and Gogyo's house. Mao presents the flower to her parents and they hug it out.
[8] Gather information from Lyudmila.
Elliot asks Lyudmila about the dragon and the ice seal. Lyudmila transforms into her 'true form' as a bipedal cat. She says the spell is called "Frostlock" and is an ancient magic from the Age of Myths. The spell needs vast amounts of magic to work.
Elliot concludes that there is a powerful Myu in their time that is casting the spell on Heuria. Lyudmila says she hasn't heard of any way of dispelling it. Elliot asks if he could talk to someone that casted the spell and Lyudmila tells him that he'd want to speak to the three sages but she doesn't know where they are.
Lyudmila believes that if something happens to the spellcaster, then the spell will probably fall apart. As for how to find this sorcerer...maybe Euygene has ideas. For now, Elliot thanks Lyudmila and tells her about Hirk wanting to learn magic.
[9] Report back to Euygene.
Go back to the Castle in the Age of Safekeeping and talk to Euygene. He is by Heuria. Now the whole area downstairs is frozen.
Elliot explains the Frostlock Spell to Euygene. While wondering on how to find the sorcerer, Elliot remembers the magic compass. If they have a strong enough needle, it may point to where the sorcerer lies.
