Elliot goes back to the Age of Magic to glean information on how Heuria became encased in ice. He finds out that the answer may lie even further in the past...

Western Caves - Nation of Magic Walkthrough

[1] Travel back to the Age of Magic and look for information.

First stop for clues, the Formanit Institute. On the way, Elliot sees Marnie arguing with someone.

The stranger seems to be interested in Carter's whereabouts and that he was last spotted with a Myu...that doesn't sound good.

They turn out to be the head of the Forthewor Institute, Hildebrandt. Marnie doesn't think well of him and says he only cares about results.

She asks what Elliot is doing here and Elliot tells her his intention to talk to Fausta. She reveals that Fausta is currently speaking to Lord Ikarus at his manor.

Ikarus is the noble that governs the nation of Weyzn. Fausta has been telling him of how Hildebrandt's new cores have been suspicious, considering they require a huge amount of magical energy for refinement.

Elliot comes in and Fausta introduces the two to each other. She tells Elliot that they can talk more back at the institute.

Elliot asks Fausta about Hildebrandt and she tells him he is likely interested in the Myu because of their immense magical powers. She points out to the encased dragon in the north as a result of Myu powers.

Faie remembers the voice from before mentioning a seal and becomes eager to learn more about it.
However, Fausta doesn't have any additional information. Elliot decides to go ask Mao.

[2] Ask Mao about the ice seal.

Elliot heads to Mao's and Carter's house in Whiterea. The two reveal that Mao is pregnant.

Mao says they plan to name the baby Lawei, their first gift to their newborn. Her parents died when she was young and the only gift she has left from them is a pendant from her mother.

Elliot asks about the dragon encased in ice. Mao tells him that she knows little and her mother might have known more, but she is gone now.

The talk about the Myu makes Carter mention that when he looked into them before, he found ruins with glowing gears. Elliot suspects that he saw a Doorway of Time! If they can go even further into the past, maybe they'll find some Myu with knowledge about the ice seal.

Carter says the ruins are in the volcanic region to the west, past the Western Caves. It's last unexplorable area of every map! He gives you the key that opens them.

Elliot thanks him and warns him of the Forthewor Institute and Hildebrandt.

[3] Head to the Western Caves.

Go to the Western Caves. They are to the west of the Southern Westerea Guidepost.

Open the door with the key that Carter gave. Just follow the initial path as the dungeon is a short one.

At the first junction, there will be a way to the left, and a way going up the ladder. Go left first to claim a new weapon.

Now, go back and climb up the ladder and get ready for a boss fight!

[4] Defeat the Elpand Marshal.

This boss has massive AoE damage so make sure to keep an eye out on where its attacks will hit! When it conjures up a shield, make sure to hit it from behind or at its sides!

After defeating the dungeon boss, the rest of the dungeon only has one path and no more collectibles to retrieve. Get out of the cave and arrive at Garretbelt.

It's time to search for the Doorway of Time!
